Lock rekeying in Alpharetta, GA

Same entrance.
A new key plan.

Rekeying is a key-control conversation. When compatible hardware is in suitable condition, ask whether its working key can be changed without replacing the whole lock.

Decide which access should change.

After a move or a change in authorized staff, the first question is which doors an older key should no longer open. Count the affected locks and note any separate buildings, shared entrances or doors that need to remain on a different key.

Do not assume every lock can be placed on one key. Compatibility and condition need to be assessed. For a household handover, the moving-home guide keeps keys, remotes and codes in separate parts of the plan.

A key-control issue is not always a repair.

If the key works smoothly but the list of keyholders has changed, explain that clearly. If it is difficult to turn or the latch will not stay closed, include those symptoms as well. Rekeying alone may not resolve an alignment or worn-hardware problem.

The lock repair page helps describe those observations. At an apartment or commercial suite, also establish whether the lock belongs to the tenant or the property manager before proposing a change.

Think beyond the front-door key.

An attached garage may have a separate remote or keypad. A shared property may use another controlled entrance. A rekey request does not automatically include those systems, so ask about them individually.

Explain the desired result and ask which work is supported, how many doors are included and what the estimate covers. If a door cannot currently be secured, mention that before treating the request as a routine key change.

Will rekeying change my garage remote?

A keyed lock and a garage remote or keypad are separate systems. Discuss each access method individually, including compatibility and the person authorized to approve a change.

The next step is a conversation.

Tell us what has changed.

Start with your actual address and what you can observe. Ask about support, availability and the proposed scope before making arrangements.
